Notes on our 7 Day Cuyabeno Trip
During excursions this 7-Day Cuyabeno Trip, guests will be escorted at all times by a multilingual and naturalist guide at the Cuyabeno Reserve. Guests will be informed daily about the following day’s activities by their guide on the night, prior to dinner.
The guide may adjust the itinerary due to weather conditions or guest requirements.
On the first day of all our programs, guests will be assigned life vests and rain ponchos; rubber boots will be supplied on the following day. This gear will be the guest’s responsibility throughout their stay and must be returned to a Tapir Lodge representative on the last day of the program.
Please bring this gear with you when required and or advised by the guide. Even though the Cuyabeno River is quite serene, we remind and request our guests to wear their life vests at all times during our canoe excursions. Rubber boots must be used during all treks and we recommend you keep your rain gear with you at all times.
Tour Reviews
There are many lodges in the Cuyabeno Reserve and now I have been to twice of them and I have to recommend a trip to the Tapir lodge. The atmosphere is great and you feel like you were at home. This is due to the furniture but especially due to the staff. You’ll get great food, nice talks and help anyway. The trip was very good organized and also we were the only tourists in th lodge at that time w had a great trip and never felt like we were the only ones. Moreover, our guide who showed us arround was very funny and friendly and exerted to show us as much animals as he could.
Altogether, go to Tapir Lodge! 🙂
My group of girlfriends and I were disappointed when the lodge we originally wanted had no reservations, but it turned out to the best thing that happened to us! We fell in love with Tapir Lodge. The accommodations are very comfortable, the chef makes incredibly delicious meals, and the staff works tirelessly to make your Amazon experience memorable and exciting. If you go, be sure to ask for Jose Miguel as your guide. He is a wealth of knowledge and will do anything to make sure you see and enjoy as much as you can to fully experience and learn about Cuyabeno! They all reminded us that we will always have brothers in the Amazon, and really made us feel like family.
It’s easy just to view the beautiful jungle scenery but for the heart and soul of the jungle Kurt, the convivial host and guide at Tapir, calls on his encyclopedic knowledge of nature and history to help his guests begin to experience a deeper Jungle experience….and in 3 languages!
A real adventure supported by comfortable clean rooms, excellent meals (Thanks Mario), nice “social” areas and a helpful friendly staff. Kurt has a genuine deep affection for the life of the jungle, both fauna and animals, and is so willing to share it with his guests.
Where others raced by, we dawdled and saw!! 8 types on monkey, sloths in trees, pink freshwater dolphins, a hawk hunting a spider monkey, birds galore, fruit bats resting on trees, Lemon flavoured ants (just ask Kurt!), making manioc, squeezing sugar cane, trees whose leaves shut when touched, glorious sunsets, etc.
BUT, most important of all, we will return home, to our cabin in the woods in Canada, with a real appreciation of the jungle and it’s life.
Thank you Kurt!
